Cause

Currently Northern Health is the only health authority in the Province that does not have its own interventional cardiology service. To date through the generosity of Donors through the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation approximately $1.2 Million has been directed to various pieces of equipment to support the detection, treatment and follow up care for cardiac patients. We’re getting closer!! The next step in achieving a stand alone Cath Lab is our next opportunity and is contingent on successfully building and improving basic levels of service satisfactory to Cardiac Services BC. This means our funding priority for the Festival of Trees will be just that – focusing on centralized Cardiac Diagnostics and Clinics, a Cardiac Care unit, Pacemaker Services, Device Outreach and Follow Up Services. All of this will help recruit cardiology specialists to support expanding cardiac services. It is a big project that will have a positive impact for the whole region. We are delighted to move this area of care forward and are hopeful that the community feels as we do that it is badly needed.
